Transition to sustainable energy

“Our leaders, when designing for our future, assume there will always be cheap energy, economic growth, growth in car use and so on – all of which are highly questionable assumptions. Surely we can do better than that?”
From Transition Network on energy

The Transition movement recognised the need to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels; burning them creates unacceptable levels of carbon and as they become scarcer and have to be extracted from more and more difficult environments (the Arctic, deep oceans…) they are bound to become more expensive. There are various local groups concerned with setting up local energy generation and improving energy efficiency.
